TIDMADT Welcomes its 500th member

Posted on:

It is hard to believe that just a few short months ago, a rag-tag group of refugees from a failing Australian Clan huddled together and wondered what fate would bring. TDC rose from the ashes of FGM on the 15th of August, with TIDMADT following just days after. On December 15th, just 4 short months later, TIDMADT welcomed its 500th member, RyuuTheDragon.

We have been growing on all fronts, with Bonestriker valiantly sacrificing himself by leading the charge into the BF3 arena (yelling some battle-cry about a briar patch?) and Shadow wielding the Force in SW:TOR, but WoT still leads the charge with over 240 in Clan, and several invites still outstanding.

On behalf of all the admins of TIDMADT, we want to thank you all for joining our ranks. Each new member brings something unique and special to our numbers, and we grow stronger and more diversified every day. We have truly been blessed, and we look forward to our numbers growing as the New Year comes upon us!

And the bombing continues

The bombing in WWII was brutal.  Military and industrial installations were targeted, but so were cities and civilian populations.  A U.S. Strategic bombing survey after the war estimated that at a minimum 305,000 were killed in German cities due to bombing and estimated a minimum of 780,000 wounded. Roughly 7,500,000 German civilians were also rendered homeless.  Allied forces found that attacking German waterways resulted in tremendous traffic problems on the Rhine, eliminating the movement of coal (upon which the German railways were reliant on) except in certain limited areas.

For 65 years, the Rhine River hid two bombs and an fog-producing device that were dropped by American and British warplanes in the last years of the war. When water levels dropped to record lows in early December 2011, the bombs were finally found near Koblenz, causing evacuation of over 45,000 residents.  The evacuation, the largest in Germany since the end of the war, crippled the city for days as nearly half the population was relocated.

It is estimated that 257 British air bombs were dropped on Koblenz alone during the war. It is not known how many of them did not explode and have been forgotten. Bomb-disposal squads have only managed to deactivate three of them until now.

7.0 released!

Even as I type, I am downloading the patch for WoT 7.0.  It is a massive dl, about 1,195.62 MB, and will take some time to get, but I am hoping that all that dl will turn into tons of new content.  Time will tell… but I am hopeful.

Those of you who have been following the forums know of the changes that are coming… everything from new maps to multi-cluster technology. Certainly this will change the way we play, but in the end, 15 vehicles will face off against 15 vehicles in a battle for land.

One of the biggest changes coming will be the new “tank freezing” for Clan Wars. To paraphrase, “I know not what the next Clan War will be fought with, but the one after that will be fought with tier I” Hopefully, everyone availed themselves of the codes to get the free garage slots, so we all have plenty of room (I have about 13 empty slots right now) so everyone keep grinding, and keep any vehicle that is within 2 tiers of the top for that line.

The winds of change are coming…
