TDC Makes the Leadership Board

Posted on:

Last night was very disappointing for the members of TDC.  After holding Tlemcen for over 2 weeks, we lost our landing zone to 3AC.  Since we have taken land and held it, some provinces have gone back and forth, but we have steadily pushed onward to expand our borders and secure our territory.  Tlemcen is different.  Other than being our first province that we took and held, since it is a landing zone, it is the only province we cannot take back.

However, in the midst of such darkness, a bright moment emerged in the history of TDC. After the dust had settled from the night’s matches, TDC appeared on the leadership board.  TDC is now ranked #10 in the entire game in the category of “Provinces Captured”.  In fact, holding 10 provinces, we are tied with everyone up through #6.  That means, boys and girls, that there are only 5 Clans in the entire game that hold more land than we do.

Do not be discouraged!  If all the clans just went belly up with their treads exposed, it wouldn’t be exciting.  We may have lost our landing zone, but we are kicking ass on the global map!

And Stay Out!

Texas Judge Caught on Tape

Posted on:

Sometime in 2004, William Adams found out that his daughter Hillary, 16, had been using the computer to download music and games that were not yet legally available for download.  He grabbed his belt, and told his daughter to bend over the bed.  When she didn’t, he beat her on the legs.

There are a couple points that make this case a little different, though.  The first is that William Adams was (and still is) a judge in Aransas County, Texas.  Among his responsibilities was the hearing of cases involving child abuse.  The second thing is that his daughter recorded the whole episode on a hidden camera.  The video lasts about 7 1/2 minutes, and shows the severity of the beating Hillary received, in addition to the language used by the judge while beating his daughter.

Since the video was made public, it has gone viral.  The repost on YouTube has received over 2,000,000 hits, and outraged viewers have been hammering Aransas County officials to file formal charges against a man who, days ago, would have been responsible for hearing just such a case.

Disciplining a child is every parents responsibility.  There are as many different opinions on how to properly do this as there are parents, and while the debate rages over whether it is ever appropriate to spank a child, what happened between William and his daughter clearly crossed the line.  Already, the dishonoured judge has been temporarily relieved of his duties while a visiting judge will take over his responsibilities.  The outpouring of public support has been huge.  All that is left to be seen is the outcome in the days ahead.

TDC2 Takes Land!

Posted on:

It will be a day long remembered on TIDMADT.  For the first time, both divisions of TDC are on the Global Clan Wars map!  Yes, the landing was a bit of a cluster, and no, they probably wont hold it for long… But TDC took land with a technical victory once, and they held their first piece of land for only one night.

TDC2 is still a long way from being “battle ready”, but they are grinding much faster than TDC did, they took land quicker, and soon they will be a powerful force in the game.  Congratulations, TDC2!

Sig Generator Working Again!

Posted on:

Huzzah!  The WoT Signature File Generator is working again!

I finally stopped killing tanks and (gasp) actually doing REAL LIFE work long enough to get the Signature File Generator working again.  Officially, it is still in Beta, and it is only fixed for the US server (once it has been tested for a couple days, I will make the changes in the EU and RS servers)

Sorry it took so long… game on!

There’s GOLD in them thar hills!!!

Posted on:

Tonight, TDC took the 5th and 6th pieces of land!  We are now accruing about 500 gold a day, and the time was right tonight for our first gold distribution to the Clan members.  Anyone who been a member for more than a week, and has been on and active within the last 10 days, got a little something extra in their stockings tonight!

The admins are still working out all the details of how we are going to distribute the gold, as we want to be fair to all our mates who are putting in the long hours in defense of our little budding empire.  We will be dispensing gold regularly now, and (don’t hold me to details) we are going to be running monthly competitions and events.

Congratulations, mates… we have fought long and hard for land, now start enjoying the spoils of war!

LONDON (August 11th, 2011) – Sports Interactive Ltd. & SEGA® Europe Ltd. today unveiled the latest version of their successful football management simulation series, Football Manager™ 2012. Planned to be in stores before Christmas, Football Manager 2012 will once again allow you to take charge of your favourite football team and put your managerial skills to the test.

The award-winning Football Manager series has now sold in excess of 7 million copies worldwide and has topped the UK and many European PC charts for the last seven years, with over 108 weeks at no.1 in the UK to date.

“We’re delighted to finally be able to start talking about Football Manager 2012” said Miles Jacobson, Studio Director at Sports Interactive. “It’s another year of evolution, with some revolution thrown in for good measure so we’re pretty sure our dedicated communities, and hopefully lots of new people too, get to play and enjoy the game when it’s released later in the year.”

Counting over 800 new features, not including changes to the rules of the games 50+ leagues, Football Manager 2012 promises to be the most realistic, immersive and playable football management simulation ever for any fan who has ever dreamed of making the big decisions, both on and off the field.

Key new & improved features for Football Manager 2012:

Transfers & Contracts – significant changes to the transfer and contract systems, including loyalty bonuses, better implementation of amateur and youth contracts, an improved transfer centre and the ability to lock areas of the contract negotiation when you aren’t prepared to budge. This helps you to manage your budgets and gives you flexibility in what you offer money hungry players, or agents, as incentives.

Scouting improvements – using several real life scouting reports, a new in-game report has been devised which includes squad analysis, tactics information and information about goals scored and conceded alongside lots of other scouting improvements, giving you all the information you need to prepare before kick-off and throughout the season.

3D Match Improvements – new animations, a whole new crowd system, improved weather system, more stadiums, plus two brand new cameras – “Behind Goal” and “Director Cam” as well as all other camera angles being reversible – meaning you can watch and analyse every aspect of every game.

Manage Anywhere, Anytime – the ability to add or take away playable nations in your saved game as often as you want. Manage in that country at the start of the next season- meaning you don’t have to stay in the nations which are chosen by you to be playable at the start of your career.

Tone – a whole new level has been added to team talks and conversations, with the new tone system, which allows you to specify the way you want to say things – be as cool as a cucumber by saying things calmly or throw tea cups around by saying things with passion. There are 6 different tones to choose from with specific comments per tone.

Intelligent Interface – a new adaptive layout system, which means the higher your screen resolution, the more info is easily at your fingertips. The new interface also contains new filters, customisable columns, a new tactics screen, and lots of new overview screens.

Brand New Tutorial – standing separate from the main game, a mode to help new players find their way around the game easily, whilst also offering tips to experienced managers on how to get the most out of the game, as well as a new in-game “how to” system.

On top of these key innovations, there are lots of areas of the game that have had huge improvements, such as the media system, press conferences, the youth system, newgens, the social networking options, friendlies, international management and many more which will be detailed in a series of video blogs over the coming months, alongside more information about Football Manager 2012.

Defense of the Land

Posted on:

Well as you know, about a month ago I put a brutally honest post into the forums, about being sick of playing the bridesmaid role when it comes to Clan Wars. Well all I can say is that I am loving not being a bridesmaid anymore.

A win yesterday gave us land, so instead of losing it straight away we wanted to hold it. And a fantastic effort by all. The Commander, Dept Commanders, and Field Commanders got together 2 hours before the match, to work on fine tuning of the normal strategy. The discussion although starting to heat up, got to a point where, we were all happy with the way we were going to roll out.

Then we decided, was as good a time as any, to ensure our players, knew where they could go without getting smashed by Arty. So we went into a Training Room, to better understand what we were doing.

Rising Sun Killers got through to battle us. Unfortunately they had lost to us for the previous 4 days straight, so they tried something different with their strategy. Lets just say it failed badly.

To the guys that missed the fight today, I apologize. To the guys that were in the battle, WELL DONE!!!! I think we can chalk that tactic up, as worthwhile to keep. And no it wasn’t really defensive. The best form of Defense, is a strong Offence, and we proved that we are a force to be reckoned with.

In defense of the Motherland

Posted on:

We defended our land tonight, due in large part by some changes to our strategy.  We are getting stronger every day, and now we have proven ourselves to be a player on the Clan Wars map.

The details will be coming over the next few days, and I can’t say too much at this point, but we Wilso, Bonestriker and I have been working hard behind the scenes to help make us a stronger Clan.  The alliances that we are forging will be for the benefit of TDC and TDC2, and will benefit us not only now, but once Clan Wars comes out of beta.

In the coming days, we will be seeing great things for the Clan.  I know that some of you were upset that we didn’t have more battles tonight, but please believe me that the sacrifice will be well worth it.  In the days to come, we are going to have plenty of battles, and the chances are that soon we will need to be defending multiple territories at the same time.

As a final note, a great note of thanks needs to be given to everyone who has been putting constructive criticism into the strats, worked with us in the training battles, and helped hone our battle plans into the winning strategy that helped us defend our land tonight against a strong contender inside of 5 minutes.

Congratulations, mates… we are now officially a force to be contended with!

Land Ho!

Posted on:

It took months for us to take our first piece of land.  It took 24 hours to lose it.  48 hours later, we stormed the beaches and took the land again!

It was a tense night, full of frustrations, but in the end we gained Tlemcen again, and sweet it was that we took the land back from the people that took it from us.  Sweeter still was that we gained the land through a technical victory!  Whether Rough Riders screwed up when casting their chips and forgot to leave any for home defense, or if they were just so confident that they would gain the land they were trying to push on to, we may never know.

Not that it matters, of course… the land is ours.  But there is an important lesson to be learned here:  World of Tanks is a complicated game, and we often forget this because the controls for your tank are so easy to use.  But while the controls are simple to use, the mechanics of the game are far from simple to master.  Driving around and shooting tanks is easy… surviving a game while inflicting maximum damage to the enemy often is not.

Yes, we have land.  But this is ONE step on the ladder, it isn’t the top.  Now that we have land, we need to concentrate on holding it, expanding, building alliances and grinding our vehicles until we forge an empire that can stand proud on the Global Conquest map!
