We have a home!

Posted on:

We had already fought in 2 landings, one of which we made to the landowners before suffering a staggering defeat at the hands of 9 Maus. The third landing came, and we easily defeated the Philippine Vangards of Peace 4 (they wanted peace, we brought them a peaceful death).  Encouraged, we faced Rising Sun Killers, and the battle was close… real close.  But we endured… we outplayed, outgunned and outlasted then… and then we faced the landowners…

The battle began at midnight (my time).  Our arty was ruthless, our tankers relentless.  We took the fight to the Vietnam People’s Army…

AND WON!

Congratulations TDC, we now have land to call our own!

Upcoming Events!

Welcome to the newest little corner of our blog… the “upcoming events” section.  Here you will find the latest news on things going on all over the globe, from conventions to tournaments.

Things are looking GOOD!

Well with the upcoming release of BF3, We are getting things organised behind the scenes here at TIDMADT.

With many of our gamers taking part in the BF3 open BETA, we have been able to have a good look at how the game plays compared to the previous versions of battlefield, whilst it has been noted that there are a few problems with the BETA most have already been addressed by DICE & EA to have been fixed for the release. So hopefully the release of BF3 should go very smoothly.

Now the best part about this news, TIDMADT will be hosting at least 2 BF3 Servers from DAY 1, 1 server will be for our North American Community brother to have fun on AND 1 server will be for our Australasian part of the community. Server names and IP’s will be released closer to day 1 of BF3.

Steve Jobs, innovator and founder of Apple, dies at 56

Posted on:

When Steve Jobs began hacking together bits and pieces in his mother’s garage with Steve Wozniak, they may have dreamed of great success, but there is no way that they could have imagined the full impact they would have on technology.

Keep in mind that I am a PC guy.  I have never owned an Apple in my life, never listened to an iPod, never surfed on iPad, never called on an iPhone.  Personally, I prefer the more open architecture of Android, and think that (for what I do) PCs have always overshadowed Apples.  (actually, I prefer Linux to Windows, but now we are really getting far off base).  In fact, looking at Apple products, I would have to say they do far better on devices than they do with computer.  I think their marketing department is the best thing about their company, and that a great number of people who buy the devices do so because they want to be part of the “in” crowd.

However, I have to admit that without Apple, without the vision of Steve Jobs, the face of computers and technology would be far, far different… simply put, the world was made a better place by Steve Jobs.

I could say that I prefer my Android phone over an iPhone, but had there not been an iPhone there would be no Android.  I could say that I prefer many tablets over the iPad, but if there had been no iPad, there wouldn’t be a tablet market as we know it.  I could say that, for all its problems, I prefer Windows to Mac, but Windows followed Mac into the arena of graphical interfaces.

Steve saw what nobody else saw.  He saw the potential of the little bits and pieces sitting around him.  His goal, from the beginning and right through to the end, was to make technology available to the public in a simple and easy way that they could understand and integrate into their everyday lives.  Whatever aspects of Apple I don’t like, I have to admit that he did exactly that… and while there are devices that I think may do a better job, they all followed Steve Jobs to the market place.

Steve Jobs had a dream, and he followed it… and his dream led us all into a much brighter tomorrow.

Assault on the Mines

Posted on:

We didn’t take land tonight… but we did kick some major ass!  We assaulted the Mines of Croatia, and our first fight was in the semi-finals against the 5th Canadian (Armoured) Division.  Our team played flawlessly, this was (seriously) the BEST battle I have ever seen us engage in.  We came prepared, rocked up, rolled out clean and followed the battle plan to a T.  Our tanks were defensive, drawing the enemy around the bend to the waiting arms of our arty, and arty shot true.  When the time was right, our men rolled the bend and flattened the foes before them.  Strategically, it was perfect, everyone working together and doing their part.

Though we lost in the finals, tonight was a win!  This is what teamwork is all about… this is what Clan Wars is all about… tonight, our Clan rocked up, and we beat tough opponent.  Tonight, we proved that if we stand together, if we follow the battle plans, and if we play for the win, then we WILL WIN!

Congrats on the battle, mates… be proud of what we did tonight!

A night of preperation

Posted on:

For only the second time, we threw in chips for all three landings.  Tomorrow would be the big one, the “night we WOULD take land”, so we were all chomping at the bit and spoiling for a good fight.

Our first battle was on the Ensk map in Kanino-Timansky District against Angels of Death – Reserve.  The map was a first for us in Clan Wars, so Fiddler and Sgt Joker got to work on strategy for us.  With 17 people online, we managed to get 13 into Special Battles… fortunately, we won a technical victory.  Some glitch in the Special Battles program, NOBODY advanced into the semifinals.  I put in a trouble ticket, and we prayed this wasn’t going to be an all night thing…

The second battle was on Ruinberg in Courland facing the Secret Agent Clan.  We sat around nervously hoping for an actual match this time, and (miracle of miracles) the battle came up… not that it helped much, as we got our asses handed to us by an inferior team…

This led us to our third and final match, the Cliffs of Jutland.  We would be facing our old enemies, the Angels of Death – Wilde Jagd.  They were the only other clan to apply, running interference for the main Angels of Death crew who owned the land.  If that was their plan, they succeeded…

This weekends WoT Warfare

Posted on:

Most of you know, that I have put a confrontational post in the forums. Heck, I am known for it. I call a spade a spade, and if it is a shovel, well I will call it a damn shovel. This was not having a go at anyone, this was to reawaken the push for bigger tanks.

I don’t know  about the rest of you but I am sick of being the bridesmaid. That was all well and good while we were grinding away in low tier tanks, getting strats right, but now we have the tanks, and the strats.

Don’t know what post I am talking about then read the following.

So this weekend, we fight, and we WIN land!!!!!

Fiddler’s Run

Posted on:

The pickings were a little slimmer tonight, but we decided to jump in Clan Wars for the heck of it.  The first match was in the Mines of Cyprus against the CanadianGunNutz.  We only had 9 brave souls going in, and Fiddler created a defensive plan… but we knew the odds would be against us, and we were in it just for the fun.  It was fun… but it was fast, as we were facing a team of 12 so we were outgunned and out manned from the start.  Had we a full team, we would have had a decent shot.  More people online, growing the team and grinding up, will take care of that…

Our second battle was on the Cliffs of Jutland, facing Angels of Death – Wilde Jagd for the semi-finals.  By battle time, we had a full team of 15, and weren’t looking too shabby.  They were pretty heavily armed, and played defensively at first.  When attacking a defensive position, rounding the corner opens you up to their arty.  It is far better to take a defensive position against a more heavily armoured team, and draw them around the bend to open them to our arty.  Overall, it was a good effort, and lessons were learned.

A great shout-out goes to Fiddler, who has been calling the shots for us over the past few days.  A good tactician already, he is doing a wonderful job of being adaptive, working with the vehicles we have going in and modifying his strategy as we grind and learn.

Well Done to BiggBaldwin

Posted on:

I would just like to say congratulations to BiggBaldwin, one of our Happy Tankers. He entered into the WoT Hymn contest, along with a couple of other members.

Fifth place and 1,000 in-game gold go to biggbaldwin, for his Hymn which was the following:

THE CHARGE OF THE ARMORED BRIGADE

[may be sung to the tune of America(my country tis to thee)/God save the Queen]

Let loose the flame of War,
red tide that breaks the shore-
let thunder roar

Down on the foe we sweep
our steel a scythe to reap
and fling them to Death’s keep-
to Death’s cold keep

Now from our courage smelt
honor that will not melt
though Death’s blows dealt

Here on this battlefield
know that now we wield
a fist that will not yield-
that will not yield

The raving of the fight,
the pound of iron might
and bloodshed’s bite

Now into battle soar
amidst the cannon’s roar
and every man a man of war-
a man of war

Labor Day landings…

Posted on:

I peeked online, and saw that we had a fair number of people online, so I decided to put us in for all three landings tonight.  The first was the Sand River of Maysan against BURN EDEN.  There were 4 teams putting in, including our old friends Xtreme United Gamers, who would also be fighting in the semi-finals against Rust In Peace.  However it panned out, we were excited about our first early landing, and we went in with high spirits.  Arty got three of them, but we fell in the end.

Our second landing was Ruinberg in Courland against Dogs Of Old Masters.  Tight teamwork ruled, and even though I killed one of our own (an accident, I swear!) we advanced to the semi-finals against 3rd Company.  Some refinement to our battle plans led us to an easy victory, and we won handily without loosing a single man.  That brought us to the finals, against our old friends, the Angels of Death – Wilde Jagd.  Last night, Sgt Joker had led a rag-tag undermanned group against them, and we were anxious to see what we could do with a full company.  They came heavy and hard, and it was an even match for a while, but the scales tipped to the Angels in the end.  We wished them luck, and turned our attention to the final match of the night.

On the Cliffs of Brittany, we skated into the semi-finales to face Iron-Raiders [Reserve] who won a last-minute victory in the quarter-finals over Warriors Of Valhalla.  We took out damn near half their forces, and the rest knew we there, but fell in the end.

All together, not a bad showing for an off night… while we have been competitive on the weekends, we are starting to get there during the week…
