Okay all. I need some help.

Shannon is going to buy me an eReader for Fathers day.

The four that I am looking at are:

Barnes & Noble Nook
Kobo E-Reader Touch Edition
Amazon Kindle 3
Sony PRS650BC

Questions I have are:

Who has any of these, and can you please give me any Pros and Cons of the one that you own.
What came with it at purchase. eg. The Kobo comes with 200 eBooks preinstalled.

I know that Barnes & Noble have a Nookcolor as well, that interests me, but color is not a big selling point for me, as I will be reading, not looking at pictures.

The other issue I have is the Kobo E-Reader Touch Edition, I can't get in Australia anymore, as Borders Bookstore has gone bankrupt, and they were the local distributors.

My wife as the second edition kobo and she loves it and I like it but I kind of wanted something colour. Which it isn't but if you are looking at a computer screen all day you probably don't want something with a LCD screen anyways. The kobo is close to looking at a normal page of a book and has a good battery life too. If you need to find a way to get one see if Chapters.ca (Canadian big chain bookstore) will ship to Aussie-land.

I've used the Kindle 2? and it is pretty good for reading books. I just have an issue with the keyboard on it. IMO it isn't really needed but that's just me. It has really decent battery life and isn't that heavy. If it had a back-light i would use it more often but as it stands it is a pretty basic option to choose.

I've got the Kindle 3.
Haven't owned any other e-book readers so I cant really compare...

Pros:
Lightweight compared to paper novels
thin
really long battery life (i read every night and go for weeks on end without needing to recharge)
no backlight so there's no stress on the eyes. Can be read outdoors (i do alot of that on sunny days)
Easy to use/transfer data.

Cons:
no backlight... so needs to be read under the additional light clip or external light source
keyboard is useless...
wifi setup isn't really needed... google on it sux the balls. (but then again i dont use any of those features... better to get an ipad for that stuff)

Thanks for that Fiboo. After you have put that and the others I have spoken to, I have just told the missus the Kindle is what I want.

Just when I think I have you worked out. I thought u would have posted the Kobo, because it is the Touch Edition ;)

Thanks for the response. After getting my hands on one, plus the results of the poll, I have purchased the kindle. Accessorized by the battery case with light built in.

Once again thanks for the advice
