Ok guys, TIDMADT is getting into the game development business! Our first effort will be a browser based 4x epic space game... and we need to come up with a name for the damn thing!

Most of you have played a 4x game, even if you didn't know that was what it was... Stars!, Civilization, Masters of Orion and Sins of a Solar Empire are a few that you may be familiar with. For those that aren't, check out this wiki page

We want to create the right theme for the game... my vision is that it will take place in the remnants of a shattered empire, but Lorna thinks that genre has been overdone... so you can suggest a name that would fit in with the idea of the shattered empire, or come up with a name that suggests an entirely different play arena for the game (just make sure to explain what that arena is!)

In my envisioning of the game, several different play styles will be supported... just as a starship captain, there are several ways you can go, everything from the rogue (Han Solo) smuggler freighter pilot, military career starting with a destroyer and working your way up to battleship command, scout exploring new systems... there are lots of ways you could play it.

But I also want to include a lot of planetside action, and there the playstyle would be more like Civilization, actually taking control of the assets of the planet to expand and exploit, research new technology...

Militarily, ground forces would try to conquer planets like starships try to dominate the systems... a ground force general would be another avenue for gameplay...

The ideas we can put into this are limitless, but to begin, we need a name... we need a theme... we need the concept which will drive this game to success...

Come up with the best name, and you will win 200 gold in World of Tanks (if you are one of the members that doesn't play World of Tanks, an equivalent prize will be awarded) You can submit up to 3 entries, so pick your best ideas... the requirements for the name are that it can't already be in use (like you can't pick "Star Wars" or "Star Trek", but you also can't pick major brandnames either, like "Shadows of the Empire" is a registered Star Wars brand)

I like Andromeda Rising... it's different, original...

But if we did that, what would Andromeda be? And what would be the rising? Can you expand on this?

For those who weren't in TS when I explained Andromeda is the closest galaxy to the Milky way and is approaching us at fairly high speeds, the two galaxies will eventually collide but not for hundreds of millions of years.
Andromeda is also twice the size of our galaxy and can be seen with good binoculars.
